Hi, my name is Les. I am a coach specialized in cross cultural management in New York and I am expanding my coaching to Europe. I love Brussels. With its cultural diversity, different perspectives and its languages it is the center of Europe. Visiting Europe since the 1970s, I studied at the American University in Paris, Ecole nationale superieure des Beaux-arts de Paris and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and as a management consultant have advised Fortune 50 clients including 3M, Du Pont, GE, GM, Dow and Bayer based in the European capital.

About: Dr. Les Joynes (b. Santa Barbara, California) is a leadership coach working with leaders in a new era of work. A graduate of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) - Boston University M.Sc Management Program (1988) and California State University (MBA), Les brings thirty years of global experience across the Americas, EU and Asia Pacific. With a special interest in the future of Europe, he has been resident of France, Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, Japan and India. In addition to his training in global management he is also an exhibiting artist trained in London and Tokyo. In New York, Les is a Columbia University Research Scholar examining creativity in coaching. With coursework at Columbia on Personal Leadership (Hitendra Wadhwa), The Future of Work (Jeff Schwartz) and Innovative Approaches to Advising the City of New York (Eugene Lang Center for Entrepreneurship) Les serves the Columbia Community and has coached 100+ MBAs and EMBAs at Columbia Business School and coaches Entrepreneurs and their teams at Columbia Start-Up Lab and Almaworks.

Trained in coaching at New York University, Les is also an ICF-certified group coach. During his MBA at California State University, Les published with A Rami Shani, PhD on parallel learning models instrumental in creating cross-border cooperation in technology. In 2021, he initiated International Coaching Federation’s Global Chapter Connect hosting IOCF’s first cross-border event where he welcomed Brussels-based coach Philippe Rosinsky to present on cross cultural coaching to ICF Belgium and ICF Chicago. He has initiated coaching to culture professional at Yale, California State University and PhDs at University of Melbourne, Australia.

Recipient of the 2022 Fulbright Academic and Professional Excellence Award, Les initiated coaching to underserved communities in India’s Northeast. Les is also recipient of Fulbright US Public Diplomacy Awards for China and Mongolia,. In 2016, Les was awarded the US Department of State sponsored ACMS Fellowship and led the first research on US-Mongolian cooperation in arts, culture and education. Above all, he is excited to support future leaders who are working across cultures.
